In listening to the news recently, both liberal and conservative, it has occured to me that Obama has more of an oponant in Palin than in McCain.
At the start of the election process, many eyebrows were raised in wonder as to who would win. Unlike the last few elections with two major front runners from the very beginning of the process, we started with a miriad of candidates. Never have we had so many diverse candidates, ranging from pastors to actors, white, black, male and female. And at the formost of most people's minds, "The Woman" and "The Black Man". Both shining beacons (or as they would fancy themselves) of civil rights, and the equality of all men... er.. women.. Whatever.
Since Hillary was booted out of the race, Palin has stepped in, nearly taking her place as the new "The Woman". Perhaps Obama breathed a sigh of relief believing that he no longer had another beacon of light to battle, but he has found himself once again faced with his own civil rights rat race, and struggles to remain the celebrity he is (and that is no compliment). The fact that most people, men and women alike, identify with Palin (and not Obama) must really get under his skin. He's no longer the single, bright and shining star in the sky, but rather, has a down-to-earth opponant who has managed to strip some of his imagined glory away from him.
What I see is a criss-crossed debate, fight, battle, whatever you want to call it.
Obama knew the "experience" argument, so he picked Biden to combat McCain's obvious and over-mentioned time in the field of battle, and politics(not to mention he was actually born here, and we have his birth certificate).
McCain knew he would probably pick up many of Hillary's votes if he chose a woman, so he picked Palin, whose face has become as much of a magazine cover as Obama's.
It is my sincere hope and prayer that more people wake up to the fact that Obama is a political stunt, and is sure to bring ruin and disaster to my country. Our country. The man has no spine, no experience, no intelligence and no plan... I take that back. He has a plan. Several, in fact, but they are that which we have tried to prevent since the beginning of the US. Speaking of which, have you bought your tire gauge yet?
